Apple add Newstand section to App Store

Apple added a new section to the Features tab of the App Store. It’s called Newstand, and you can access it on all iOS devices. This new section highlights news source apps like newspapers, magazines, and web sources like Zinio, Instapaper, and NPR News.

iBooks v1.1.1 out now

I don’t have it, so I can’t give a first hand account, but this is what Apple reported as improvements:

Double-tap an image within a book to view it in greater detail.
Experience books that include audio and video.
Enjoy substantial performance improvements when reading PDFs.
Look-up definitions to English words inside books without a specified language.

iBooks 1.1 out now, breaks dictionary

iLounge is reporting that the new version of iBooks brekas the dictionary look up feature. This problem appears to only be affecting ebooks that weren’t purchased from the iBookstore.  If you’ve converted ebooks using calibre (or bought ebooks elsewhere) then you might encounter this bug.

Apple now hiring iBookstore Managers for France, Germany
